Mother’s Day DTLA at the flower market
If you thinking of how to spend a Mother’s day in Los Angeles with your mama I’d recommend checking out The Original flower market. The flower bazaar is located smack downtown DTLA (located at the intersection of the 7th St. and Wall St.)

Easily accessible from all over the LA County and from beyond it’s a perfect place to take your mom out early Sunday morning on May 12th. STOP right there! The Original flower market is actually closed on Sundays so you might want to go there on Saturday instead, the day before 2019 Mother’s day.

You guessed it right, we’ve made a mistake of coming to the market one time on Sunday and wouldn’t want you to walk in these shoes. So… short story long, make sure to go to the market on Saturday, which is open from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm. Take your mama out on a date for brunch on Sunday instead and pregame with a quick trip to flower shop on Saturday.

Sothern California Flower Market with Mother

Now that we’ve got the schedule out of the way, let’s focus back on what to expect from the place. The parking is super easy and cheap $5-10 in the garage and even cheaper on the street. There’s a coffee bean on the premises if you need to get your caffeine fix that early in the morning.

There are also restrooms and that’s about it. Besides flower shops you will find tons of mini shops with decorations, cases and anything affiliated with flower arrangements. You can find some intricate interior design elements like unusual pottery, mini sculptures and dried out trees that make great conversation pieces.

Now the best part – the flowers! Clearly there are many seasonal blooms that will dominate the market, however! VERY IMPORTANT. The Original flower market might have those out of season special flowers that your mother or wife, or girlfriend or a significant other adores the most. So, if you cant’s find those peonies, daisies, calla lilies or some dandelions – there’s a good chance you’ll find them here! So look no further if you’re in desperate need of finding specific type of flower in Los Angeles.

Southern California Flower Market for a first date
I took my future wife to be on date to the flower market DTLA, which was an inexpensive ($2 for entrance) and easy going atmosphere for a date. Typically people go on a first date to restaurants, clubs or some other social events where you’re obligated to act a certain way.

The sweet thing about the original flower market DTLA is that all that tension simply dissipates once you’re submerged in that floral ambiance. You won’t be pressured to dress a certain way, it’s hard to be uptight in a place like this and I think that all the attention will be directed to the vibrant colorful flora.

Type of flowers you will find at the best Los Angeles flower shop
Fascinating enough there are over two dozen vendors of florists at the Southern California flower marker; all of whom specialize in a particular types of flowers typically. Orchids are the predominant flowers that seemed to be everywhere! You will find every possible size, shape and color of an orchid right here. Btw did I mention that the prices are typically a half of what you’d pay at a local Von’s or Ralph’s for flowers! Pretty Insane. You will also find lots of local and exotic plants at this orangery.

Furthermore the fashion district is right around the corner where you will find even more insane deals on fabrics clothes, brand knockoffs and other home decorations like curtains, table clothes, carpets and other useful things at a fraction of designer stores.

Ever since 2000’s the DTLA have changed several times and now that it’s almost 2020 it looks like a completely different place. I highly recommend exploring the food joints in the area. Lots of fairly inexpensive Loft like hipster joints that you can simply Yelp, Wurstküche is pretty dope along with Umami Burger; although you should do a bit more searching. I’ve been to a couple of really amazing places that can’t even recall at this point.
Enjoy your Mother’s day at the Southern California flower market, and don’t forget to call your mama after reading this article!
