Cave Rock Lake Tahoe|Nevada
Cave Rock, located north on HWY 50 of south lake Tahoe, is one of the best observation points of the entire Lake Tahoe. It is ultimately the best spot to catch the sunset and have an all encompassing view of the lake and the mountains.

It is a short but a very rewarding hike with some of the most iconic California perspectives in the entire state. The view from the top is so majestic that we used it for our website background. You will want to come back here again and again, year after year.

Note: Very Important !!!South Lake Tahoe and North Lake Tahoe are connected by Highway 89 and might not be easily accessible from each other during ICY Winter conditions. There is a torturous mountain part of the road near Cascade lake that is Seriously dangerous in ICY conditions so you might have to take the longer route around the lake Tahoe if you need to get from south to north portion.

Parking at Cave rock
The hardest thing about this spot was to actually find the parking spot. It’s not well demarcated and holds just a handful of cars. See the satellite image with two locations circled.

The little parking lot holds like 6 cars and is convenient if you driving from south lake Tahoe.
Cave rock Lake Tahoe sunset
Like I mentioned before, the location is very popular for sunsets, and given that the parking is limited you might want to plan accordingly if you’ll be going to Cave Rock in the evening.

We hope you’ll enjoy this memorable experience while visiting the snow slopes. Josh McNair has a few more tips and some dope shots of the sunset at this location.
Check out the turn outs on the way to the Cave rock, you won’t regret it.
