What will you see at the Kids Museum Sausalito?
We have money question out of the way, which is insane! especially if you coming with both parents! Let’s talk about all the cool things kids get to experience at the best playground in the bay area during the Free Day at Kids Museum Sausalito.
The playground is designed by a really cool fabrication company -Scientific Art Studio (Website). They have also designed exhibits at the Monterey Bay Museum and the San Francisco Zoo Elinor playground.
There is a huge boat, a train, a xylophone, things to climb, little-giant red bridge. Streams, giant blocks and tons of other cool playing areas. A huge bell and couple of monkey-bar playgrounds, a miniature train set. A ceiling that’s a fish tank…the list goes on and on. Basically this museum has it all. There are literally hundreds of potential activities and lots of little hidden things. For example a tunnel in the train room.
How large is the Bay Area Discovery Museum?
The place is huge! Encompassing multiple outdoor and indoor play areas, kids will totally enjoy the playground in the heat of the summer, rainy fall or cold winter. The three seasons can occur in one day – it’s San Francisco Bay, welcome to Sausalito! Our son is extremely active, he’s barely 1 1/2. Even at his age he already can easily wear me and my husband out in the matter of a few hours. This place was designed to wear the kids out =). We spent almost 4 hours at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Little bear was so tired that he slept through the entire ride back home. This is heaven for any parent!
All the parents should seriously consider checking out BADM it is probably the best playground in the bay area! Everyone mentions that it’s a very educational museum, although I would say that it is mostly a huge playground for kids to discover things and a new fun secret thing around every corner.
Btw I think our son is going to be a fisherman. He spend over an hour just dunking salmon? trout? toys into the stream. Carried a frog around from one place to another. Btw, they even have little cute aprons to wear so that the little ones won’t get wet and catch cold. The only thing that is hard is to keep all the toys in one place. Of course there is a very courteous staff at the ground to help and tidy up the place but I think it’s up to parents to watch after their kids. Make sure that they play well along with others and put away the toys to designated areas.
Bay Area playground with a view
The view from the parking lot as well as some of the area in the Museum are simply breathtaking, you’ll get to enjoy the Golden Gate Bridge view and a part of Marin headlands.
Food.
Just bring your own, although they have a decent cafe – we actually got some hot drinks to go with the sandwiches we brought with us.
What to wear ?- bring 2 , no 3 sets of clothes !
As I mentioned before – you can experience 3 season in one day, of course you won’t ever get snow in the Bay area, except perhaps at the Mount Diablo, in Contra Costa County. We brought a jacket, a sweater and a couple of pants and tops. Kids get wet at this place like nobody’s business. After an hour at the stream with the salmon I had to change our son. That day it was kind of cold outside. Later in the day the weather turned into our favor though.
I know that I’ve emphasized a couple of time, but the place is a bit too expensive. Therefore, take advantage of the Free Day at Kids Museum Sausalito – Free First Wednesday of the month. You’ve got 12 chances a year to go to this amazing museum at no charge!
That’s our California Perspective for today
See you there one of these Free Wednesdays =)
