Exploring Lake Siskiyou with Little one
Sometimes you need to take a step back to realize the how grand some of the California’s natural monuments are. Mt. Shasta is one of those nature’s obelisks that you have look at and simple marvel. We found best view of mount Shasta located at Lake Siskiyou from one of the locals.
There’s no better place to admire one of the most scenic volcanoes in California, if not the US and even the world – than at the Lake Siskiyou. Reflecting on the surface of calm mountainous lake Siskiyou is a humble giant caped in snowy white cloak sometimes all year around.

There are many awesome trails to explore on Mt. Shasta, and we had an opportunity climb up to the Horse camp via avalanche gulch. The following day we wanted to do a photo shot and after talking to some of the locals found just the spot with ultimately the best view of mount Shasta. Conveniently located only 5 minutes away from the high way 5.
Lake Siskiyou trail.
Perhaps one of the most scenic lake trail in all of county. Here are two useful websites that contain the info on the trail, like where to start all the stats regarding the distance, etc..

The trail goes almost all the way around the lake and is easily navigable. You will find several parking spots along the trail with ample space.

Wagon creek pedestrian bridge
Where to take famous Lake Siskiyou and Mt Shasta picture with a bridge ?
After talking to a few locals who recommended the best spot possible if you are looking to take the best picture of Mt. Shasta.
We stopped at the Cable Beach Parking & Trailhead. Within 100 yards from the parking lot you will be able to make your way to the shore. From there you’ll easily spot the iconic Mt. Shasta with the Wagon creek pedestrian bridge in the foreground.

Apparently there’s a beach and a few people brave to swim the ice cold waters. Imagine being a local and hang out at the beach with mount Shasta in the background…

Lunch at Lake Siskiyou
While we were hanging out by the lake, we thought how great it would be to have a summer table set by the lake after a long hike. Surely enough after hiking for 5 minutes we found several tables with benches perfectly situated overlooking the lake.
