Sea Ranch Vacasa rental
Have you ever dreamed of having a house with an ocean view at the land’s end? Sea Ranch Vacasa rental will enable you to have this feeling without scraping together all your life savings for a little bungalow. If you’re traveling up the Pacific Coast Highway to Sonoma or Mendocino consider Sea Ranch Sonoma for lodging.
You have a exclusive opportunity to rent a quaint cabin or a charming mansion on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Located just a couple of hours north of San Francisco, Sea Ranch Sonoma is a little secret that only a few have had chance to indulge. A Secret Garden of the West Coast flourishing with local vegetation and seascapes worthy seeing at least once in a lifetime.
Seriously! Sea Ranch Sonoma is a unique little community of roughly a thousand people with proximately 300 houses. Stretching for several miles along the coast between Pacific Coast highway and the Pacific Ocean it is a place as magical as you can imagine.
I’m surprised that every other romance movie isn’t filmed here. This is a part of California unlike any other. So intimate and perfectly intertwined with the nature…

Sea Ranch houses
Each house is individual in its original design although perfectly fits into the overall village. Designed to perfectly blend into the coastal landscape the Sea Ranch houses look like small forts with little to no windows facing the driveway, often secluded by a wooden fence. However as soon as you walk around one of the creations, a different perspective will surprise you.
Wide open space and panoramic windows full height from ceiling down to the floor. With wide open windows you can look right into the soul of the house. Or look over the bluffs out into the Pacific Ocean.
It is if these houses have their own personalities. In fact Sea Ranch houses have very individualistic names: Harmony, Audubon, Seascape, Trea-to-Sea, Summers, Meadow Hawk, Noyes retreat, Ashioto, Thayer, Whale tales, to name a few. Easily accessible and easy to rent through Sea Ranch Vacasa rental website.
The Secret garden of the West Coast
If you’ve seen everything there’s to see in California – this is a new chapter that you simply must indulge in the future not too distant. This is The Secret garden of the West Coast.
If you’re fortunate enough to spend some time at the Ranch you’ll definitely want to come back again and again. We had a pleasure to stay here only for a few days, but it feels like we lived here forever. It is a little community where everyone simply belongs. Consider bringing the whole family to this retreat. Experience the nature at the sea ranch with kids or your parents while going on hikes or bike rides. We saw a couple of families going scuba diving!
It is as almost if the time has stopped and the houses from perhaps the past or the future transgressed right onto the cliffs. The paths in between the cypress trees and the golden brush seem like they have been there forever. It is an absolute pleasure to walk the paths in the morning or after dinner with kids and family. Having a vacation at the Sea Ranch with kids is probably one in a life time experience that everyone should have.
The surrounding atmosphere is infused with sweet aroma of the golden grass. And the redwood exterior houses peacefully blend in with the rest of the vegetation; as if they sprung out of the crevasses (perhaps during one of the earthquakes). I hope we have a chance to come here with our family during one of the holidays like Christmas or Thanks Giving.
Sea Ranch Sonoma architect
Lawrence Halprin performed an amazing artwork; setting the tone for the rest of the architecture on the premises as far back as in 1960’s. Guided by principles of Idealism, freedom and counterculture he revolutionized the relation between the nature and human habitat.
Following in the footsteps of his predecessor Frank Lloyd wright he was able to further blend in the geometric architectural shapes into the surrounding background. Perhaps my images don’t convey the cunning camouflage that these houses undergo. However there were a few instances when we walked by an area and did not even notice the houses in the foliage.
Sea Ranch is self-sustained community with very rugged inward appearance. Most of the houses have very little to no widows facing driveways, and wide eye-opening panoramic facades, facing the Ocean.
An absolute eye-soar turns into a marvel when you turn a corner around the building. More information on the Architects and the design of the Sea Ranch Houses can be found here.
Our experience of the Sea Ranch Vacasa rental
This is America very few Americans will have a chance to experience. I consider myself extremely lucky to see the beauty of Northern California Coast. Stroll through the golden vegetation from knoll to knoll, scaring off unsuspected does. Inhale the smell the cypress trees in the early morning and taste the refreshing dew. This is precisely why we called it the Secret Garden of the West Coast.
Gaze into the infinity of never ending Pacific Ocean. Then come back to reality with the waves breaking on the pebbled shores. Grab a cup of warm tea with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Stretch out on a rug next to the peacefully crackling fireplace in the evening.
We really enjoyed renting a house at the Sea Ranch Sonoma (through Vacasa) – allowing for intimate atmosphere to dive into this rugged, yet so welcoming terrain. In addition to the house you have access to the public pool, tennis courts and other amenities. Everything is listed on the website.
Traveling with a little one isn’t always a breeze and having access to a kitchen made our stay far more comfortable. We’re not big fans of restaurants and having a luxury of cooking for ourselves is something we definitely enjoyed. The concept is exact opposite of the Timber Cove Resort in Sonoma. That’s our California Perspective for today, we’ll see you at the sea ranch next time =)
